Tactical Shooting

Those with novice or no experience with a handgun are strongly encouraged to attend our Basic Marksmanship course prior to attending the 3 day Tactical Shooting course. Only individuals that can successfully pass the Advanced Marksmanship Course will be able to register.

The Tactical Shooting course will enhance the serious professional law enforcement, military and security officers in their ability to fight using a handgun. It will enhance basic knowledge of the use of firearms and take their basic firearms skills to the next level. The drills incorporated are directly supervised and designed to prepare the participant for engaging a threat and handling their firearm correctly with speed and accuracy. Winning the life or death encounter requires more than shooting at targets. It requires mental preparation as well as confidence in the ability to complete the task under stress. Some of the essential points, tactics and theories that will be covered in this essential firearms training course are listed below.

Point shooting theory:
•Draw and shoot on the move
•Physiological/Psychological reactions and inoculation to stress
•Post Engagement actions and scan process
•Proper threat engagement process
•Failure Drills (transitioning from one target area to another)
•Strong and Support (one hand) shooting positions
•High stress weapon manipulations (draws, reloads, malfunctions)
•Threat Identification and Acquisition

The following items will be needed for the course:
•SEMI-AUTO and at LEAST 3 magazines (four if Single Stack), or
•Revolver w/ 8 speed loaders
•Eye and ear protection
•Belt, Holster, and at least two magazine pouches (3 if single stack)
•1000 rounds of ammunition minimum (this will ensure students have enough ammo as some students may shoot more than others based on shooting speed)
•Baseball Style hat
•Knee and elbow pads recommended
•Sunscreen and insect repellant, water and towel
