The MEB Advanced Course Certification Program is a 6-hour course
of the straight expandable baton. It deals with the blocking and
striking capabilities of the baton, but also teaches control and
takedown techniques to mirror the two-prong philosophy of Protect & Restrain.
Participants are certified after demonstrating the minimum acceptable performance standards (MAPS).
Monadnock Expandable Baton (MEB)
An alternative to the straight baton is a PR-24® or Control Device. These are batons you will want to carry because either defensively or offensively they are more versatile and more effective than any other baton available to law enforcement officers today.
In our training, officers are taught how to stop a punch or kick using a PR-24® baton block. Officers also learn how to effectively restrain (lock-up) a subject using the assistance of a PR-24® baton. Thus, handcuffing a subject's wrists is quick and safe, standing or prone on the ground. Baton strikes are also taught but not emphasized as in other baton training programs. We emphasize PR-24® blocking skills and PR-24® assisted restraint holds. Instructor level participants are certified to teach the basic course after demonstrating the minimum acceptable performance standards (MAPS) and the ability to instruct.
